INDEPENDENT MOVIE REVIEWS:
FLESH FREAKS

FLESH FREAKS is a wild movie! Nothing too far out there, but loads of fun! Writer/Director/Editor Conall Pendergast delivers the goods as ancient evil begins to take over! Nice and sharp! A DV feature movie to definitely get your hands on!

The story opens on a student who is macheted and cut to bits. The camera moves and studies the room and the body and the gore. Then comes across her eye lying on the floor and zooms in as the titles take control! Wild!

Barry is back from a trip to Central America where things didn't quite go as planned on his archeological expedition. The group he was with was attacked by something, some evil dead thing that defies explanation. The press covers it up as a terrorist act. The professors and most of the students were butchered, but Barry knows it wasn't terrorists. The big problem is that this thing has come back with him and it wants to take over.

It first infects a body at the medical school and takes out the professor! Nice and nasty with plenty of the red! The professor is next! Back from the dead and wanton for flesh!

The madness catapults itself as more fall victim to the ancient possession and become things of the dead craving for more victims in order to populate the earth.

Barry and his friends must stop the FLESH FREAKS from taking over! But they must save themselves first! If they canÉ Plenty of thrills and chills!

PRODUCTION NOTES

This movie rocks! The DV format shines through and the imagery is incredible as the images are manipulated to enhance and strive emotional reaction. Some shots are colored red, others turned into a negative, and others warped and compiled into many layers! Great creativity at work!

There is footage from Central America that makes the story all the more real! It looks as if there was a student dig that the moviemakers attended and worked into the storyline. Excellent!

Then there are the effects! Gory! Red! Mangled! Flesh! Excellent job creating things that shouldn't be and making them sick!

The camera movement and what the camera shows is great! We love the creative element of the shots!

There elements that are not entirely believable, but overall we like this movie because it shows what can be done with limited resources and some ingenuity!

Bravo!
