As great as ICE FROM THE SUN is, ON THIN ICE is even better! We only state that because of our love for behind the scenes items and in this case an entire documentary running 90 minutes that details the making of ICE FROM THE SUN. Wicked Pixel Cinema cohorts Todd Tevlin and Jason Christ have put together an outstanding look into the insane world of low-budget moviemaking!! A must see! The documentary starts with day one and covers the process from pre-production to final cut and details much of the behind the scenes action. Excellent coverage of many elements necessary to making a low-budget feature and then some Great commentary by Eric Stanze as well explaining some of the decisions he made during the production and why he made some of the choices he did. Also on board are many, if not all, of the cast and crew adding their comments about the production. One knows for sure that everyone is professional and knows their craft. There is great footage from rehearsals and script/story discussions to the cast and crew barbecue. The level of dedication is legendary and this is the real deal of the low-budget movie world. The best parts include the commentaries from everyone! It is great to get so many different perspectives about what went on and how they handled the variety of locations and shooting. Wonderful to hear what the actors thought and what Eric thought about how things were going,. Plus the creativity put into the project and why. This was the biggest movie Eric had done and the most resources he pulled into a project before. It's wonderful to know and understand how he felt and what he was thinking as he was going through the process of creating the movie! Everything is covered! Sets! Set design! Scheduling! We are impressed! Great job! Great documentary of a great movie! This is one you want to get your hands on just to see how well organized the production was from start to finish. They did not just rush in and make a movie. This was planned and executed in an exacting fashion. Then as old Murphy's Law rears it's head, we get to see how they deal with it and make things work as best as they can. (For those who don't know Murphy's Law, it is the Golden Rule of Moviemaking- Anything that can go wrong will go wrong and at the worst possible moment.) Hands down, this is a good one to add to your moviemaking collection of tapes!
