INDEPENDENT MOVIE REVIEWS:
GODMONEY

Simply put: You must see GODMONEY.

GODMONEY is the feature debut of Darren Doane (42K is his second film) and sets a new standard in independent filmmaking. This is a breathtaking ride through humanity that compares to none other. Darren Doane shows and delivers the feeling of what it is like to have your life turned upside down and the extremes one would go through to try to set it back on track. What results is an outstanding cinematic achievement that is both visual and dramatic.

GODMONEY takes place in Los Angeles where NATHAN (Rick Rodney) has moved from New York to forget about his troubled past and start a new, clean life. He works small time jobs trying to put together a life to be proud of. However, life is never easy and soon normality disintegrates into a daily struggle to survive.

MATTHEW (Bobby Field) watches as NATHAN's life falls apart. MATTHEW is a dealer that has aspirations of being the big boss of the territory and willing to do whatever it takes to get there. He offers NATHAN small delivery jobs to "help" NATHAN get back on his feet. Desperate for cash, NATHAN accepts and becomes MATTHEW's delivery boy.

Always knowing this is not the life he wants to lead, NATHAN wants to deal to earn enough cash to move on. MATTHEW has other plans and instead offers NATHAN the opportunity to kill a rival dealer for a cool, clean twenty grand. NATHAN must decide if the cash is worth the price he will have to pay the rest of his life. When there is nowhere to go and no one to turn to what would you do for twenty thousand dollars?

PRODUCTION NOTES

GODMONEY
Starring RICK RODNEY and BOBBY FIELD
Directed by DARREN DOANE

GODMONEY's production values are excellent. Great camera movement and dramatic tension. Darren Doane has directed an exciting and dramatic feature that is a must see. Study this film and learn. This is the way to make a movie. My initial reaction was very cathartic. The artistic integrity that Doane has conducted is astonishing. This is a film I would fully expect to see on the shelves of video stores everywhere. It did receive a limited theatrical run and if you missed it then definitely get yourself a copy of the video.

Most low-budget films tend to hit a specific genre whereas GODMONEY tackles dramatic conflict head on. There are no outlandish special fx, no monsters roaming the streets, and no T&A to wet your whistle. What you have is a very realistic and character driven movie that hits on a level of intensity unlike any low-budget film I have yet to see.

Rick Rodney's performance as NATHAN is outstanding. I believe in him to do the best he can. I believe in him to overcome all obstacles. Rick shows us how desperate we can become. Rick receives a standing ovation from THRAE.

Bobby Field is equally deserving as MATTHEW. This is a character that loves power. Money doesn't matter, women do not matter, the drugs do not matter. Nothing matters except the power to do as he pleases and control who he wants. Bobby you are excellent!
