WHITE SLAVE is on the Retro Shock-O-Rama label and hails from Italy circa 1986. The Italian title is Schiave bianche: violenza in Amazzonia. It is an exploitation movie from director Mario Gariazzo and pushes the limits of humanity as a blonde beauty is tumbled head over heals into a mad world where woman are subservient to men. She witnesses the murder of her parents and then is kidnapped by headhunters in the Amazon. The movie starts out as a real life retelling of the horrors Katherine Miles had to endure in the Amazon. We are at her trial where she is accused of murder and she retells her story to prove her innocence. Katherine is a wealthy young woman whose parents own a large piece of property along the Amazon River. She comes home from school in London to visit them and to celebrate her birthday. The family appears to have a few internal problems with relatives, but that's to be expected in most. The poor relatives are there to help celebrate the party. They decide to take the new houseboat out on the river and land the boat along the shore to picnic. Then happiness turns to tragedy when they run into a group of headhunters. Blow darts erupt from the brush and her mother and father are killed. She takes one in the wrist and collapses from the poison. The headhunters board the boat and take their prizes, the heads of her parents. She is still alive, so they take her with them. A white woman brought into the world of the Amazon, where women have no rights and they are treated as property. Katherine is put through pure hell. Torture, misery and humiliation time and time again. Yet there is one thing that keeps her going. One thing that fuels her desire to stay alive and that is to wreck revenge upon those who killed her parents! WHITE SLAVE is pure RETRO from the exploitation past! Check it out from RETRO Shock-O-Rama! PRODUCTION NOTES There is no way to pass judgement on a blast from the past other than to say that we did like this movie. The story, after all the courtroom babble, is really good. It is delivered as a true story. Not sure if it really is or not, but it sucked us in and we wanted to see what happened to this poor girl. The ending was a twist that made us take notice! Again, check it out over at Retro Shock-O-Rama! http://www.shock-o-rama.com |
