SHUDDER is the newest fear feast from genre director Ryan Cavalline and 4TH Floor Pictures, taking us full force into one woman's fears and the length she goes to change her life, only to find out what she fears is lurking close by without escape. Needless to say, he's not a pleasant fellow and everyone will have to pay a price. Beware as your fears sneak up behind you, fore as they do, you will feel that tickling sensationÉSHUDDER!! A little blood and gore upon the floor and we find ourselves at the murder scene in some sort of psychedelic imagery. It's just a glimpse of the nightmare that Erica Jordan (Angie Guido) has had to deal with. Flash forward to the present and her attempt to live out a normal existence and shake the hideous memories of her past. She's thrown herself into a new world with new people in the hope to start fresh. Her new roommates, Travis Hagstrom (Jeremy Stratton), Chris Macey (Vic Badger) and Jaycen Vannis (Rose Woelfel), have a bit of a surprise in store for them as Erica's world starts to unwind through little "gifts" she begins to receive. Jaycen, our Bad Girl, isn't much of a help to Erica's plight as she deliberately tries to add to the torment through her words and gestures. Knowing something is a bit awry with Erica, Jaycen even goes so far as to leave behind notes and allowing the front door to remain wide open, adding to Erica's fears. Anytime Erika lies down to relax, pills are a necessity. Something to make life a bit more normal for her, but even the pills cannot stop the images from haunting her dreams. And the dreams reveal the terror that follows her to her new surroundings. Fear runs prevalent in her mind. Could the murders happen again? There is nothing to protect her from the impending breakdown and even the help of her new friends is not enough to stop the fear from attacking. As they begin to unravel the mystery, they find there is much more than fear to confront. That is, if they survive at all. SHUDDER delivers a haunting look into our minds and what fear may be capable of. Sit back and enjoy! PRODUCTION NOTES Hat's off to Producer/Director Ryan Cavalline! We really liked SHUDDER and it definitely shows what one can accomplish with little more than dreams and beer budgets! Bravo! We sit and we smile and we know all the while that Ryan Cavalline is a rising force in the SOV world! What makes SHUDDER even more enjoyable for us is the behind the scenes featurette following the movie! Excellent look into grass roots moviemaking! This shows you that making a movie is not a walk in the park and drives it home even further about the commitment you have to make to survive in this world. The production values are your standard SOV fare, with camcorder type shots and perhaps some slower dialogue that you'd see on a Hollywood flick, however, there are some decent angles and the dreams/memories of the murders are tripped out digitally to just make them more surreal. A nice touch to throw you off the straight SOV look. Another cool touch, and another kudos to Ryan, is that he added a few trailers and web links from other moviemakers for us to enjoy! Great move and it shows killer TEAM SPIRIT! Nice Job! Make sure to jump over to 4TH Floor Pictures and check out SHUDDER! http://www.angelfire.com/pa2/4thFloorPictures/ |
