THINGS 2 is a weird one for us. We like it and dislike it at the same time. It has a wicked premise and delivers on that! Extreme gore in some cases and great stories, but in other spots, totally unbelievable and fake looking monsters. The cool thing is that it comes to us from one of our favorite group of moviemakers, Cinematrix Releasing! And that's what saves it from mediocre into great! This is an anthology of tales concerning a group of creatures known as THINGS. Excellent premise for a series of tales to be told in the dark and one that is executed in a decent fashion. The wraparound story involves a pizza delivery girl that ends up delivering the pizza to a famous horror author's house. She's read all his books and he invites her to stay for a bit and has her look over his newest set of terror tales. The first is a great story about a woman seeking to destroy her husband and sets up a timer on a THING's cage. The little critter will be released when her husband comes home and the plan is to have him devoured. No plan is ever foolproof however, and this one is foiled when two thieves break in and tie up the poor wife. The timer goes off and the gore ensues. Wonder if wifey will get awayÉ The next story is about a fashion photographer who is being stalked by a serial killer. Her subjects are killed and she appears to be targeted, but what exactly is this THING stalking her? Better yet, will she be able to get awayÉ The story twists back around to the pizza girl and the horror author. There is a mystery in the tales. A mystery about the THINGS and the only thing that needs to be done is to figure out that mystery. If not, well the THINGS in the basement will handle her pretty well. THINGS 2 is definitely worth a look. Again, the monsters themselves is what we complain about, but from a low budget perspective and a horror buff perspective, THINGS 2 Rocks! PRODUCTION NOTES Written and Directed by Mike Bowler, Steve Jarvis and Dennis Devine, THINGS 2 holds up a great Cinematrix Releasing product! Each story is delivered well. Our only dislike were the creatures. The productions themselves rock. Great cinematography and great camera movement. Looks really good and the acting fits right in place. Excellent work to study and see how the stories inter-wrap and work together. So we give an A+ to the execution and a B- to the creatures. No big whoop. The guys at Unknown know exactly what they are doing when it comes to making movies, so we still recommend checking them out! Great stuff! Great work! The gore on the other hand is pretty wicked. Nice eyeball hanging effect after one of the THINGS tears into a guy!! Excellent and graphic! Made us wince in pain!!
